Lionsgate Fiscal-Year Home Entertainment Revenue Skyrockets 138%

Lionsgate upped home entertainment revenue more than 138% to $736.3 million for the fiscal year (2024) ended March 31. That compared with home entertainment revenue of $598 million in the previous-year period, according to a regulatory filing.
Home entertainment titles driving revenue included John Wick: Chapter 4 and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, previous “Hunger Games” titles, and to a lesser extent, a greater number of theatrical slate titles released on home entertainment digital media in fiscal 2024 compared with fiscal 2023.
Packaged-media revenue, which includes DVD and Blu-ray Disc, increased 13.5% to $84 million, from $70 million a year ago. Revenue included $57.3 million (up 60% from $35.8 million a year ago) from Lionsgate original titles and $26.7 million (down 23% from $34.7 million) from other sources, including acquired and licensed content and libraries originally released by other parties.
Digital revenue increased nearly 125% to $652.3 million, from $527.5 million a year ago. Lionsgate original content generated $459.7 million in revenue (up 29.6% from $354.7 million last year) and acquired and licensed content $192.6 million in revenue (up 11.4% from $172.8 million).
Home entertainment revenue from television content dipped 1% to $242.6 million in the fiscal year, from $245 million in the previous fiscal year. Packaged-media revenue plummeted nearly 40% to $2 million from $3.3 million, while digital revenue remained flat at nearly $241 million.
Overall, home entertainment accounted for 44.4% of Lionsgate’s overall motion picture business segment revenue of $1.65 billion and 18.2% ($274.4 million) of television production revenue.
Theatrical revenue increased more than 105% to $226.5 million, from $120.7 million in the previous year.
