When Is Horror Thriller ‘Wolf Man’ Coming To Streaming?

Wolf Man—a reboot of Universal Pictures’ werewolf franchise starring Julia Garner and Christopher Abbott—is new in theaters. When will you be able to stream the movie at home?
Wolf Man is directed by Leigh Whannell, who was at the helm of Universal Pictures’ hit 2020 reboot of The Invisible Man. The logline for Wolf Man reads, “A family at a remote farmhouse is attacked by an unseen animal, but as the night stretches on, the father begins to transform into something unrecognizable.”
Garner (Ozark) and Abbott (Kraven the Hunter) as Charlotte and Blake in Wolf Man, while Matilda Firth plays their young daughter, Ginger.
Wolf Man plays in Thursday previews before opening in theaters nationwide on Friday. Currently, the only way you can see Wolf Man is in theaters, so check your local listings for showtimes.
The first stop in the home entertainment market for Wolf Man will be on digital streaming via premium video on demand.
While some studios take a wait-and-see approach to see how well their films perform financially before determining when they are released on PVOD, Universal Pictures tends to follow a consistent pattern. Generally, Universal Pictures releases its films on PVOD anywhere from 18 to 30 days after they debut in theaters.
For example, Universal Pictures’ action adventure The Fall Guy arrived on May 21, 2024, a mere 18 days after it opened in theaters on May 3, while the weather disaster thriller Twisters opened in theaters on July 19, 2024, and debuted on PVOD 25 days later on Aug. 13.
More recently, Universal Pictures’ blockbuster movie musical Wicked opened in theaters on Nov. 22, 2024, and arrived five weeks later on PVOD on Dec. 31.
Since Wicked likely took a bit longer to arrive on PVOD because of its massive success in theaters, Wolf Man will likely follow Universal’s 18 to 30-day release pattern.
As such, viewers should expect to be able to digitally purchase or rent Wolf Man anytime between Feb. 4 and Feb. 14, since new film releases on PVOD typically happen on Tuesdays.
Which Streaming Service Will Get ‘Wolf Man’ First?
Since Wolf Man is a Universal Pictures release, the film will make its streaming video on demand debut on Peacock, which is NBC Universal’s streaming platform.
Typically, Universal Pictures’ releases take three to four months to arrive on Peacock.
For example, the 2024 vampire thriller Abigail—which premiered in theaters on April 19—arrived on SVOD on Peacock three months later, on July 19. Additionally, The Fall Guy, which opened in theaters on May 3, made its Peacock debut just shy of three months later, on Aug. 30.
However, it took Twisters—which opened on July 19, nearly four months before its Peacock debut on Nov. 15.
As such, viewers can expect Wolf Man to begin streaming on Peacock as early as April 18 or as late as May 16, since the streamer tends to release new movies on SVOD on Fridays.
